MONKTON FARLIGH PARISH COUNCIL CHAIR’S REPORT 2021/22
This year continues to be challenging for Parish and local councils, not least due to the removal of COVID restrictions. However, I am pleased to report the Parish Council has continued despite this pressure. Joy Spiers and I spent the majority of the year as co chair of the PC with myself taking sole responsibility of Chairperson from February onwards
SPRING CLEAN
We held our biannual litter pick. This was started from the previous Queens jubilee celebrations and is generally well attended. We collected over ten bags of litter including Gas Calor bottles!
FARLEIGH RISE DEFIBRILLATOR
With much appreciation to our dedicated councillor, Brian Marlow we secured funding for a defibrillator at Farleigh Rise. Help from Andy Tucker, meant we were able to place it in a well placed and visible location. A truly valuable addition to the village
FARLEIGH RISE PLAY AREA
Staying at Farleigh Rise we overhauled the zipwire in the children’s park and councillors gave up their valuable time and skills in relaying the flooring area
REVIEW OF SPEED LIMITS IN THE VILLAGE
The Parish Council commissioned the Atkins Report to investigate the speed limits within the area and a local villager, Liz Watts, has been integral with the examination and discussion regarding these results. This continues to be ongoing and we are hopeful that the village speed limits will reduce
NEW DOG WASTE BIN IN BROADSTONES
This has been placed at the top of Broadstones and is well used! Thank you for Andy for continuing to empty them
VISIT FROM FATHER CHRISTMAS
Father Christmas and his elves visited the Parish again this year with a lot of success- it looks like this will be an annual tradition
And finally… the Queen’s jubilee celebration planning!
Parish Councillors, Joy and Andy have been working with local businesses and landowners to provide a really fantastic celebration. This will include the lighting of a beacon, a tea party and a celebration at the pub! With a special gift for the children of the village- it promises to be a fun celebration
I would like to extend a huge thank you to Joy, Andy, Brian, Racheal, Pauline and Tom for their hard work in helping keep Monkton Farleigh a beautiful and well cared for village. A special thanks, as always, goes to our wonderful Parish Clerk, Sally. She provides a valuable and fantastic service to our Parish Council
Looking forward to 2022/23 there are a few projects that the Parish Council is keen on working on
- Phone box to be repainted
- Bus shelter at Broadstones to be repainted
- Stiles and fencing around the village to be reviewed- ?Cotswold Wardens
- Ongoing speed revision
- Updates to playareas
