Project Gigabit

Last year the Government launched Project Gigabit, a £5 billion programme of investment which seeks to deliver Gigabit level capability. It includes:

Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme (GBVS)
This scheme can provide vouchers worth up to £4,500 for homes and businesses in the hardest to reach rural areas to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections to their doorstep when part of a group. Please refer to Gigabit Vouchers (culture.gov.uk) for information and updates.

Phased contract – Lot 30 (Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Swindon)
Phased contracts to those hard-to-reach parts of the UK that will need government support towards the cost of gigabit-capable broadband. Procurement for Lot 30 will start this month (February 2023) and the estimated contract award date will be from October to December 2023.

To help support this programme, the council has developed a dedicated webpage: www.wiltshire.gov.uk/project-gigabit which includes specific information for residents, suppliers and a frequently asked questions section. This webpage is being regularly updated when BDUK issue information.  The BDUK website links will include regular updates and should be checked periodically.
